STAFF REPORT

BOARDMAN — A township man is in the Mahoning County Jail after two people told police they were assaulted, robbed and held against their will.

Vincent M. Atwood II, 27, of 6664 Millcreek Blvd., is charged with two counts of felonious assault, two counts of abduction and one count of robbery in an episode that happened about 11:30 p.m. Saturday.

A man, 26, told police he and a woman arrived at 34 Crestline Place about 11:15 p.m. He said Atwood asked him to go into a bedroom, where he shut the door.

The male victim told police he tried to leave the room after about 20 minutes but was met with resistance from Atwood.

He said he was grabbed by the throat, thrown to the floor and choked. The victim said he was repeatedly punched in the face as he yelled for help.

The female victim, 20, and two other men came into the room after they heard him yelling. The two men then left the room, but the female victim attempted to help and was pushed onto the floor several times by Atwood, police were told.

The male victim alleged Atwood then closed the bedroom door and held the two victims against their will, assaulting them and threatening them with a screwdriver for nearly two hours.

Atwood removed $4,000 in cash, as well as an Apple iPhone, a watch and a necklace worth about $4,500 total from the male victim before moving the two to the living room, according to a police report.

The male victim said Atwood was counting the cash in the living room as a car pulled into the driveway.

He said Atwood looked out the front door then ran out of the house through the back door.

Once they were sure Atwood had left, the victims said they drove to the Boardman Police Department to file a report.

The man had scratches and red marks on his neck and swelling to the left side of his face. The woman had swollen cheeks and redness on her neck. Both refused medical attention.

Atwood was arrested just after 6:30 p.m. Sunday. He is jailed in lieu of $30,500 bond and is set to appear in Mahoning County Court in Boardman at 8:30 a.m. today.
